Work is progressing on schedule for the new Giant's Causeway Centre which will be opening to the general public in the summer of 2012. This modern innovative building will enhance the visitor experience to the area. The exemplary building located on the Causeway Coastal Route will be underground withan accessible grass roof blending seamlessly into the environment.
The new visitor centre will be open by mid summer 2012 with interpretation, retail outlet and cafeteria. New parking arrangments will be as follows:
Giant’s Causeway: 276 car spaces on site (car parks 1 & 2) 65 car spaces (car park 3) and 15 disabled spaces, 12 coach spaces including 7 premier spaces (advanced booking essential) and 5 coach drop off spaces.
Giant’s Causeway Park & Ride, Bushmills: 92 car spaces, 4 disabled spaces and 8 coach spaces
Admission – Summer 2012 onwards: A one off per head charge of £8.50 for the Causeway Experience which includes car parking and centre entrance. Access to the Causeway Stones via the footpath remains, as it always has, free of charge in keeping with the public 'Right of Way' to the foreshore. This access is open at all times with no exceptions, unless a major rock fall occurs on a pathway. If this happens then warning notices are places on the site to guide people.
A new upgrade to the network of trailways has taken place with new rest popints and information viewing locations, this will enahnce your experience and offer easier access to Runkerry Head viewpoint. |
