Carrickfergus is one of the oldest established settlements in Ulster, it pre-dates Belfast as the main port. customs and administration centre. The recorded history covers over 800 years much of which centres around the impressive castle which served as a centre of power for centuries. It is a great location for a stop off along the Causeway Coastal Route, the town has virtually everything you could need, a promenade, marina and Marine Gardens with a superb play area for children.
