Driving along from Whiteabbey you may notice a large monument on the hill to your left, this is the 110-foot Knockagh War Memorial, the largest war memorial in Ulster created as a smaller replica of the Wellington War Memorial in Pheonix Park, Dublin. It was built between 1922 and 1936. The location and views from here are spectacular, stunning location taking in the whole of Belfast lough. To get here follow the Jordanstown Road (opposite Loughshore Park) at the top turn right onto the Monkstown Road, at the top junction turn right onto the Old Carrick Road and then left onto Knockagh Road. Follow this for about 2.5 miles until you see Monument Road on the right. This will take you to a carpark and the location.
